Back To Top F statistic The statistic based on the ratio between mean square due to treatment and mean square due to error. Back To Top F test A statistical test of the equality of the variances of two populations. Back To Top Factor 1. In ANOVA, a categorical independent variables. 2. In factor analysis, an underlying dimension that explains the correlations among a set of variables. Back To Top Factor analysis A class of procedures primarily used for data reduction and summarization. Back To Top Filter question An initial question that screens potential respondents to ensure they meet the requirements of the sample. Finite population correction (fpc)A correction for overestimation of the variance of a population parameter, such as a mean or proportion, when the sample size is 10% or more of the population size. Back To Top Fishbein model of attitudes A conceptualization of attitude where attitude is defined as the summed product of the strength of belief that the object has attribute i and the evaluation of attribute i. Back To Top Fishbein model of behavioral intentions A model representing the components of intention as the sum of attitudinal and normative components. Back To Top Fixed alternative question A question that requires the respondent to select from a predetermined set of responses. Back To Top Focus group An interview conducted by a trained moderator, in an unstructured and natural manner, with a small group of respondents. Back To Top Forced rating scale A rating scale that omits "no opinion" or "no knowledge" option and thus forces the respondent to express an opinion. Back To Top Frequency distribution A mathematical distribution whose objective is to obtain a count of the number of responses associated with different values of one variable and to express these counts in percentage terms. Back To Top Functional equivalence A part of construct equivalence which examines whether a given concept or behavior serves the same role or function in different countries. Back To Top Funnel approach A strategy for ordering questions in which the sequence starts with the general questions and progresses to specific questions. Back To Top |
