YOUTH RELATED POLICIES

Although there is no National Youth Policy in Singapore, there are provisions under the relevant ministries and statutory boards that provide for the basic needs and well-being of young people.

The lead agencies are the Ministry of Community Development, Youth & Sports, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Manpower, Attorney-General's Chambers and the statutory boards under the purview of these ministries, including the Institutes of Higher Learning, National Arts Council, People's Association, Singapore Sports Council and the Subordinate Courts.

Other youth sector agencies include youth-centric and youth-related non-profit organisations, societies, self-help groups and other individuals which make up the traditional people sector. NYC aims to develop a vibrant, highly-connected and self-sustaining youth sector so as to nurture World-Ready Youth.

We envision a generation of young people with the values, outlook and skills to thrive and succeed in a global environment and yet maintain strong ties to their families, community and nation. They bear the following attributes:
  • Dare to Dream
You have imagination to look beyond barriers. Set goals, not limits.

  • Can Do
You have drive to go for it. Act on your dreams.

  • Never Say Die
You have strength to try all the way. See problems as challenges.

  • Walk the Talk
You have guts to stand up for what you believe in. Be true to yourself.

  • Serve by Doing
You have passion to change people's lives. Let your actions speak.
