1.
What is the training cost?
The training cost is negotiable with your preferred
training provider and is dependent on the training
requirements.
2.
What does 70% of the training
cost mean?
E.g. if the training for each student cost $120 for a
2D1N camp, the YLDG can fund up to 70% of $120, which
is $84 per student.
3.
Is there a cap to the YLDG?
Each student/youth can receive grant amount of up to
$300 per year.
It
is capped
at S$10,000 per school/institution/organisation per
year (calendar year) whichever is lower.
4. What is the definition of 2nd-tier
leaders that are non-school/organisation wide youth
leaders?
It does not include:
School Councillors, Prefects and students that hold
official CCA roles such as EXCO members. It includes :
others with the potential to lead but not holding any
official positions and the entire class committee (as
long as they do no hold other official school-wide
title).
5.
Can the school/organisation
engage other training providers other than those on
the NYC recommended list?
Yes, you may choose to engage other training providers
not included in NYC’s recommended list, pending
NYC’s review and assessment of the capability and
reliability of the trainer as well as the eligibility
of the training content. Please contact us at least 6
weeks before the training commence if you wish to do
so.
6.
Can the school/organisation
decide the post-training activities for the
students/youths?
Ideally the students/youths can have the opportunity
to propose post-training activities of their choice.
The schools/organisations may however provide some
guidelines on the overall theme/type of activities.
7.
What are the types of
post-training activities if the students/youths do not
want to carry out a community project?
Depending on the topic of the training programme, the
students/youths may plan and carry out activities
other than community projects. E.g. students/youths
may choose to participate in committees or workgroups
in their community or take on the role of mentoring
others.
8.
Can the students/youths
implement an overseas community project?
The students/youths can plan for an overseas project
but there must be a local community project component
implemented prior to or after the overseas project.
9.
When must the post-training
activities be implemented?
It is preferred that the students/youths embark on
their post-training activities within 3 months after
the training, so that they are better able to apply
what they have learnt during the training in hands-on
service to their community. However, depending on the
nature of the post-training activities, the timeline
for completion of the activities may vary.
