About the National Youth Survey
The National Youth Survey (NYS) is NYC's flagship survey that looks into the major concerns and issues of schooling and working youths in Singapore. The NYC adopts a resource-based approach that focuses on the supports youths require for societal engagement (social capital) and individual development (human capital). To date, there has been 7 iterations of the time-series study, with the latest wave conducted in 2022.
The NYS adopts a random (i.e., probability-based) sampling method to ensure responses are representative of the resident youth population aged 15 to 34 year olds. Youth trends and findings captured in the NYS 2022 can be found in the YOUTH.sg: The State of Youth in Singapore 2024 publications below.
The National Youth Council (NYC) has commissioned the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) to administer the National Youth Survey (NYS) 2025.
The NYS enables us to understand how we can better support youth development and engagement by gaining insights into their experiences and views on important issues such as well-being, social support, and aspirations. This is the 8th iteration since the survey was first launched in 2002, and over 17,000 youths have shared their responses to date.
Eligible respondents who are Singapore citizens or PRs aged between 15-34 will be invited to take the survey from 24 December 2025 to 13 February 2026. Participants are randomly selected from the Government database and will receive a survey invitation via hardcopy letters mailed to households containing a secure hyperlink starting with "https://go.gov.sg".
All responses are treated with complete confidentiality. The data we collect from you will be aggregated with responses from other participants, so your responses will not be attributable to you. If you wish to verify the authenticity of the survey invitation and hyperlink, or have any other feedback or enquiry, you can contact our research partner at: Tel: 9245 3610 (Mon to Fri, 9.30am to 6.00pm) or Email: ips.soclab.nys@nus.edu.sg.
